Alumina-Silica Cement Type AS-CEM
GENERAL INFORMATION
ZIRCAR Alumina-Silica Cement Type AS-CEM is a high temperature resistant cement coating useful for coating the surfaces of ZIRCAR® fibrous ceramic products or other porous insulating products.
Type
AS-CEM contains a wet, inorganic binder to provide both strength and hardness at elevated
temperatures up to 1260°C (2300°F). It exhibits good adhesion, thermal reflectance,
dielectric strength, and hot gas erosion resistance.
AS-CEM applied to the surface of alumina-silica based fibrous materials will effectively
increase
the surface resistance to wetting and attack by many molten nonferrous metals.
AS-CEM has the consistency of thick paint and may be applied with a brush, paint roller or sprayer to all porous refractory forms. If thickened by evaporation, water can be used to bring the cement to its original consistency. AS-CEM is nonflammable and is not affected by freezing.
Application information
1) Clean surfaces to be joined, making certain they are free of oil, starch, etc.
2) Mix contents thoroughly before using.
3) Thoroughly coat cleaned surfaces with cement. Reapply the material as required to assure even coating and build-up of cement on parts.
4) Cure thoroughly before placing parts into service. Uniform curing at a temperature of 204°C (400°F) will result strong bonds and permanent fixing of the material.
