GENERAL INFORMATION

ZIRCAR High Alumina Refractory Adhesive Type HITAC-4 is a single part water based high alumina containing adhesive. Containing ~73% Al2O3, it is totally inorganic and has a maximum use temperature of approximately 1425C (2597F).

Specifically developed  for bonding low-density fibrous ceramic insulation materials together without shrinking and adding significant mass, it forms a strong bond upon drying. It is possible to create a cylinder using Alumina-Silica Blanket Type ASB-2300 (or ASB-2600), Silica Rigidizer Type SI-RIG and HITAC-4 Adhesive, that does not degrade after firing to 1300C, as illustrated in the photo on the right.

HITAC-4 is a white, creamy sticky material that remains workable for an extended period of time. Thin layers of it can be applied with a brush, paint roller or sprayer. Once fired to 425C (800F) HITAC-4 exhibits a bond that is stable to re-exposure to water or humid conditions and exhibits high dielectric strength.

This new adhesive is amazingly stable and can be applied to most types of porous low density insulating materials.

SUGGESTED APPLICATIONS

Bonding ZIRCAR fibrous ceramic materials together and to other porous surfaces.

Coating surfaces of ZIRCAR boards, blankets and papers for improved hardness, abrasion & chemical attack resistance.

Repairing cracks and openings in furnace walls composed of fibrous ceramic material.

Forming of shapes (rigid tubes, boats, setters, supports, process fixtures etc.) by bonding of rigid and flexible ZIRCAR fibrous ceramic materials.

Bonding agent in manufacture of high-alumina composites and laminates.
