GENERAL INFORMATION
ZIRCAR Alumina-Silica Bulk Fiber Type ASBF-1 has been specially processed
to remove "shot" and other un-fiberized material. This extremely "clean"
material contains relatively short length fiber. It is suitable for use in
vacuum forming of rigid boards and shapes and as a bulk fill material. It is useful to
temperatures of 1260°C (2300°F).
ASBF-1 fibers exhibit light weight, low thermal conductivity, low thermal mass and immunity to thermal shock.
ASBF-1 fibers and refractory binders yield a uniform body of 0.24 -0.32 gm/cm3 (15-20 pcf) density, when vacuum formed from a water slurry. Silica or alumina binders can be used to form rigid refractory thermal insulation products. It is also useful as insulation packing in furnace spaces, around furnace sight tubes & ports and fill in expansion joints and masonry cracks.
