Alumina
Blanket Type AB & MB
The high purity aluminum oxide fibers exhibit light weight, low thermal conductivity, low thermal mass and immunity to thermal shock. A minor addition of silica in AB modifies the fiber's microcrystalline structure and acts as a grain growth to prevent embrittlement that usually occurs after extended use at elevated temperatures. The silica content in MB promotes the formation of the mullite structure providing stability at elevated temperatures. These blankets resist attack in aggressive chemical environments due to their high purity & refractory nature.
AB and MB are ideal for use when layered between rigid insulation, wrapped around process piping or fabricated into folded modules. They are also useful as insulation packing in furnace spaces, around furnace sight tubes & ports and fill in expansion joints and masonry cracks.
Alumina
Mat offers significant advantages over vitreous alumino-silicate fiber
blankets, including:
High temperature dimensional stability
Resilience and flexibility after exposure to elevated temperatures
Exceptional refractoriness
